Mike Huckabee for President!

Saturday, February 9th, 2008

We were able to catch Mike Huckabee stumping in Maryland today. I am really excited about Huckabee as a candidate, and I can’t remember a time where I have had an opportunity to vote for a candidate that so fully reflects my political sensibilities. Funny thing is this year, Maryland actually makes a […]

Family scripture memory system updated

Monday, October 29th, 2007

This year we have implemented a systematic approach to memorizing scripture. We have an index card box (that we call the “Treasure Box”) that holds forty or so index card dividers. The dividers are labeled as follows:

Justin and co experienced the rigors of “brick wall bashing with style,” battled Mr. Freeze tag, practiced super strength with a mighty pinata, had […]

Kids writing code

Sunday, March 18th, 2007

I was eight years old when I started programming. My folks bought an Atari 600XL console computer and never really seemed to use it. I got ahold of the thing and realized that there was this language called BASIC that was preinstalled. I poured over the manuals and found a magazine at […]

John Piper’s Dad

Thursday, March 8th, 2007

I remember reading a few years ago a sermon by John Piper where he reiterated some of the lessons that he learned from his father. I was moved by this sermon, and greatly encouraged in my own work of fathering my own children by looking at the example of William S. H. Piper. […]
